Abstract

Public health has been and continues to be the "poor sister" of health systems, despite the impact it has and the significance on the levels of health and well-being of the population. Both its definition, often ambiguous if not confusing, as well as its functions and, above all, the identification, visibility and valuation of its professionals, by the institutions and by society itself, make an analysis of health necessary. public and its professionals. The work that has been carried out in this regard is presented and a reflection is made on all of it.
