Author Guidelines

The Impetus magazine is a periodic publication of the Physical Education and Sports Degree of the Universidad de los Llanos, in Villavicencio, Meta (Colombia); oriented mainly to the dissemination of research and innovation works in the field of physical education, recreation, sports and related areas. Impetus is published biannually and circulates since 2007. Peer-reviewed (double blind), professional experts specialized in the subject area of ​​each of the articles submitted to Impetus.

For the reception and submission of articles and / or research reports, rules and conditions apply to standardize the presentation of articles when submitted to the evaluation process, thus achieving a coherence in the presentation that gives identity and structure to the publication.

Only original and unpublished articles that are framed according to the Colciencias classification are allowed.

Item types

  • Scientific and technological research article: Document that presents, in detail, the original results of completed research projects. The structure generally used should include the following sections sequentially: introduction, materials and methods (includes study area), results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgments and bibliographic references.
  • Reflection article: Document resulting from a completed investigation from an analytical, interpretive or critical perspective of the author, on a specific topic, using original sources.
  • Review article: Document resulting from a completed research where the results of published or unpublished research on a field in science or technology are analyzed, systematized and integrated, in order to account for progress and development trends. It is characterized by presenting a careful bibliographic review of at least 50 references. It generally presents an introduction, conceptual framework of the topic, results that correspond to the tracking carried out, discussion and conclusions. In review articles it is not required to specify the materials and methods section.
  • Short article: Short document that presents preliminary or partial original results of a scientific or technological investigation, which generally require prompt dissemination.
  • Case report: Document that presents the results of a study on a particular situation in order to publicize the experiences and results in the methodological, therapeutic and theoretical fields considered in a specific case. It includes an annotated systematic review of the literature on similar cases. In addition, it is important that it contains a detailed description of the case and discussion.
  • Topic review: Document product of the critical review of the literature on a particular topic.
  • Reflection articles not the result of research: Writings that analyze, interpret or criticize a specific topic.
  • Research and development project summaries: Synthesis of research and projects that are ongoing or have been completed, but have not been submitted as articles by the authors.
  • Translation: Translations of classic or current texts or transcripts of historical documents or documents of particular interest in the domain of publication of the journal.
  • Letters to the editor: Writings and critical, analytical or interpretive comments on the documents presented in the Journal, which in the opinion of the Editorial Committee constitute an important contribution to the discussion of the subject by the scientific community of reference.
  • Comments and criticisms of publications: Critical synthesis of a recent publication (printed or electronic) that is of interest to the scientific community.
  • Notes on topics of scientific, ethical and professional interest: Information on relevant events for the field of physical education and related areas.

Originality of the texts

Only unpublished works written in Spanish or Portuguese will be accepted. It is necessary that all referrals include the formats for submitting articles and transferring rights, available at http://revistaimpetus.unillanos.edu.co. In these formats the authors endorse its publication in the journal, assume the authorship of it and declare that the article is exclusively submitted to the Ímpetus Journal, while the evaluation period elapses.

The reception of a work does not imply any commitment of publication by the Impetus Magazine.

The authors of works will not receive any remuneration, economic or of any other type on the part of Ímpetus Magazine.

Arbitration

The texts delivered will be subjected to an evaluation process by referees or peers, under the double-blind modality. Just as the pair does not know the identity of the author, he does not know the identity of his evaluators. The referees are experts in the area selected by the editorial committee. The authors will be notified about the results of the evaluation and will be given a deadline for the delivery of the adjustments, this deadline may vary according to the amount of corrections that the text requires. If accepted, the authors will know the decision on the article and the corresponding editorial process will be carried out.

Impetus Magazine does not guarantee that all contributions will be published. Papers will be selected in accordance with the formal and content criteria of this publication.

Presentation

They must be written with a font of 12 point size and 1.5 between the lines with Times New Roman font and justified.

The maximum number of pages for original articles derived from completed research or with partial results will not exceed 25, for the other publication options according to the Colciencias classification they will not exceed 15.

In addition to the central text, the article must contain:

Centered sentence type title (maximum 15 words) in Spanish, English and Portuguese, with the name of the author / s, their address and telephone number with the respective callsign, email, professional training (title obtained and name of the university that grants it) and institutional affiliation.

Abstract (no more than 250 words) and keywords in Spanish, English and Portuguese (between 4 and 8 words, if possible different from those shown in the title and that reflect the content of the manuscript and are appropriate for search engines) .

It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure the quality of the translation presented.

Body of the article and bibliographic references following the Arabic system and APA sixth edition standards.

All pages must be numbered, including graphs, tables and footnotes, these being restricted to the minimum necessary. Notes that are simple bibliographic references will be avoided, in which case they should go in the text indicating only the author / s and, in parentheses, the year of publication and the page; citations, bibliographic references and hemerographs are included at the end of the article according to APA sixth edition standards.

References must be based on indexed journals, books or degree thesis (avoid the use of information obtained from the internet) and must be presented in the following way:

In the case of a reference taken from the internet, the name of the URL of the site and the date of consultation must be written.

The Editorial Committee reserves the right to adjust the article to maintain uniformity and framing in the style of the Journal.

Pictures, graphs and tables

In case they contain tables, formulas or illustrations, these must be clearly described, in the original programs or in graphic formats: jpg, tiff or bmp, with a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch or dots per inch), in the case In the case of charts, tables or graphs of your own creation, it is essential to present them in editable format. Each table, table, figure or image must have a legend that clearly describes the material presented and the source if it comes from a different one to the author or authors. If necessary, the permissions for the reproduction of tables, tables, figures and images that are protected by copyright must be attached.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
