Abstract

Introduction: Zacualtipán de Ángeles, Hidalgo, a municipality located in the Sierra Madre Oriental, has industry as its primary economic activity, employing 43.68% of the working population in sectors such as textiles, footwear, metalworking, and quarrying. This study focused on the textile company “Grupo Geraldino,” which specializes in the manufacture of pants. Objective: The main objective of this study was to analyze organizational commitment among textile workers in Zacualtipán, Hidalgo, Mexico. Materials and Methods: To evaluate organizational commitment, the Meyer, Allen, and Smith (1993) questionnaire was administered to a sample of 100 workers. Results: The results indicated that while employees are motivated to remain with the company due to job stability and employment opportunities relative to the broader labor market, they do not exhibit a strong emotional attachment to the organization, reflecting a lack of affective commitment. Discussion: These findings serve as a wake-up call for the company’s organizational management. Implementing policies aimed at human talent development, recognition and incentive programs, employee participation in decision making, and improved internal communication are key strategies that could enhance affective commitment. Conclusions: The results underscore the importance of fostering affective engagement among employees. A strong emotional connection to the organization can improve job satisfaction, performance, and talent retention. Therefore, it is recommended to implement strategies that strengthen employees’ emotional bonds with the company, contributing to a better work environment and improved organizational outcomes.
